What: A copy of the Fetha Nagast, taken from Maqdala, then sold at a Sotheby’s auction on 12 December 1966.

Where: Cambridge University Library, West Rd, Cambridge CB3 9DR

According to the catalogue page: “The phrase ‘pillar of faith Tēwodros’ appears on 147r along with the names Habta Giyorgis and Eḫeta Giyorgis.”

Provenance: The catalogue entry describes it as “among the trove that fell into the hands of the British at Magdala in 1868”. A note on one of the opening pages reads: “Sotheby’s Sale 12 Dec. 1966 Lot 149”.
